A 1920s French antique flapper wig, crafted as a hair cloche in shimmering silver bullion thread and styled with the iconic finger waves—a very rare find and a true museum piece.
The cloche is in excellent condition and still wearable today. Comparable examples are extremely difficult to find; most surviving pieces are preserved in museum collections, such as the example held by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. A reference image of this display has been included among the photographs.
This particular cloche is especially distinctive for its elegant pointed shape at the forehead and the abundance of soft curls at the nape of the neck. It immediately evokes the glamour of the Great Gatsby era.
During the 1920s, such wigs were worn by ladies as refined evening pieces. They were produced in France in a variety of colors, yet very few examples have survived to the present day. For this reason, we are proud to offer this exceptional and unique find.
