This is another very rare 1920s wig from a unique private collection in France that we were able to acquire after many years. Very few examples remain in the world today; they are typically found only in museums or private collections.

These remarkable wigs were highly fashionable during the Roaring Twenties. Their rarity is such that even a simple search will reveal only a handful of surviving examples, usually preserved in museum collections or recorded in past sales.

One of the finest and most elegant wig cloches to be found, this piece is woven from extremely fine raffia threads into the classic hairstyle of the 1920s flapper era. It features delicate finger waves throughout, pinned-up curls at the back, and a distinctive, almost mysterious curl on the forehead.

What makes this evening wig particularly striking is its deep black color, complemented by two small foam ears that add a subtle theatrical and avant-garde touch. One can only imagine who once wore this extraordinary piece, and the beautiful gown it must have accompanied.

A rare treasure from the Roaring Twenties, preserved in superb condition and still wearable today. The wig is constructed on a silk and cotton cap.

These types of wigs were highly sought after during the 1920s and became widely known as “bad hair day” wigs. They were produced in various versions, yet very few have survived to the present day. Today, they are found almost exclusively in museums or private collections.

This example also comes from a private collection and is considered a beautiful treasure from the past—a true museum piece.
