A 1920s French antique flapper wig, crafted as a hair cloche in richly colored bullion thread, featuring the iconic finger-wave styling and entirely covered with delicate curls—a very rare find and a true museum piece.
The cloche is in excellent condition and still wearable today. Comparable examples are extremely difficult to find; most surviving pieces are held in museum collections, such as the one displayed at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. A reference image of this display has been included among the photographs.
This particular cloche is especially remarkable for its distinctive 1920s hairstyle, with finely finger-waved detailing across the forehead, while the remainder is beautifully covered in soft curls. It immediately evokes the glamour of the Great Gatsby era.
During the 1920s, such wigs were worn by ladies as elegant evening pieces. They were produced in France in various colors, yet very few examples have survived to the present day. For this reason, we are proud to offer this exceptional and unique find.
This wig is part of an incredibly rare collection that we were fortunate to acquire from the heirs of a French collector.
