Charming French Toy Grocery Store (Épicerie), circa 1900–1920s
This delightful wooden grocery store — a so-called Épicerie — dates from around 1900–1920 and is painted in a soft cream or pale yellow, accented with touches of red and gold.
A large paper label at the top, in blue with gold lettering, proudly announces “Épicerie,” immediately evoking the atmosphere of a quaint neighborhood shop. One of its most charming features is the original red-and-white striped fabric awning, which still works with a bit of gentle care — a rare detail that adds wonderful character.
